Why Has My Bill and Payment Location Changed?

To serve you better, we've assembled a list of our customers' most frequently asked questions. If you don't find your answer here, feel free to contact us.

 

The District began managing its own billing, payments, and customer service beginning September 10, 2021.

Ector County Utility District (ECUD) has been providing water to West Odessa since 1976.

Even though ECUD is your water provider in West Odessa (outside of the city limits), the City of Odessa has been billing you and receiving your payments on behalf of ECUD since that time. This changed beginning September 10, 2021.

ECUD purchases water wholesale from the City of Odessa to supply their customers.

How do I report water misuse or water theft?

How could I have used this much water?

You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Just call  the office and we'll work with you to solve the problem.

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for the possible leaks. Next call our office and report low pressure for your area. Check the customer service page of the website for repairs in your area. Next call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.

What chemicals does our utility district add to the water?

Only chemicals that are approved by the National Safety Foundation for treatment of drinking water.

My water tastes, looks, and smells funny. Is it safe to drink?

All public water systems are required to maintain a minimum chlorine level of 0.2 mg/L (tested at the end of each line) by the state of law. Systems that use chloramine as a disinfectant must maintain a level of 0.5 mg/L by state law. Our disinfectant levels are tested daily to ensure safety.

What to do if you find a leak?

  1. Turn off the water line to the leaking location.

  2. Identify the primary source of the leak.

  3. Document any and all damage (date, time, photos, description, etc...).

  4. If necessary call your insurance company.

  5. Call in professional or DIY to fix any damages caused by the leak.

  6. Look for any secondary impacts caused by the leak, such as mold or mildew.
